Dupayosh of the Week of December 27, 2010 Joe Klein
~ To ‘Fork, 2010 is the year when the cloth, for him, is wholly off a myriarchy of broken gods of government and their broken molds; when evils parade America louder and prouder to perpetuate and prosper more public and private perfidy and profligacy than he imagined possible; when most deny, blind to casting, dark shadows; when Americans will say, in retrospect, subliminal goodbyes to the good old days, close the book of identity, and turn to the book of insult and injury writ long and large in ravage and ruin by government masters; when we witness a global gag on gobs of governance-given rights and pitch more to the downside of history’s hill. ~
~ What did not happen in 2010, ‘Fork opines? Joe Klein’s head is still up his butt. ~
“Nothing much happened in 2010. Oh, I know
there was a lot of frothing and screaming. There was outrage aplenty. There was
an election. Wars were fought. Humongous pieces of legislation were passed, but
— with the exception of health care reform — few broke new ground and many, like
financial reform, were compromised and massaged to the point of lugubrious
semirelevance. Even the enactment of health care reform, a true American
milestone, was kicked down the road to 2013. Indeed, compared with
earth-shattering 2008, or even the forces marshaled in 2009 to arrest an
economic cataclysm — the bailouts and stimulus package, which really did do
their respective jobs — 2010 will be regarded by historians, I fearlessly
predict, as something of a neon hologram.”
