INTRODUCTION
This is a product review of the Weston 61-0901-W Heavy Duty Food 9-Inch Slicer. 'Fork and The Missus got this kitchen appliance to replace the EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer.
In succession, each slicer came to 'Fork and The Missus as part of their general acquisition of SHTF kitchen appliances, principally for slicing veggies and fruits to dehydrate and mebbe someday jerky, too. 'Fork and The Missus had impressed upon them by others that the incremental efficiency of dehydrating a given veggie or fruit arisen by keeping the thickness of each piece about equal. In other words, a good knife is this tool's backup.

Whassup With This
Not insanely priced, well recommended, safely delivered, easily unpacked, virtually intuitive for him - noting 'Fork had worked commercial slicers as a kid - meat, cheese, veggies.
He set it on the kitchen counter, turned it on, and worked cabbage heads, carrots, and celery so far.
Conclusion: hated it less than the EdgeCraft. Oh, you know, less bad. Had high hopes for this after working with a Weston vacuum sealer (but not the Weston bags) and got hit up-side.
"Why 'Fork would NOT recommend this slicer to other than the enemy" in 'Fork's own opine, but would not jump up and down while dissing it. [This is hard, to negotiate with yourself, don't you know.] The default between the two slicers that 'Fork's worked it this one, figuring that this is a good as it gets at the bottom end of the food slicing tree of life and 10 times its price might could get you 10 times the food slicer. Where the two differ, it's advantage Weston. That advantage is not a blue ribbon, folks, as 'Fork reckons it.
Plus: Unlike the EdgeCraft, this 'n' did not slide all over the place while operating. That is, wet the Corian countertop, he did, on advise from Miss Bess, and this 'n' did not slide all over the place while operating. Don't wet the Corian countertop, close your eyes, and try to distinguish whether the Weston or the EdgeCraft slicer slides more that the other. So, wet the counter for those suction cups to work (in the good sense of the word), or don't and piss yourself off.
Same old, pretty nearly. Both units came off underpowered to the 'Fork. Less underpowered with the Weston. But the geezer could NOT find what he reckoned was supposed to be 50% more motor oomph. Each strained on the butt end of celery stalks.
'Fork could not handle any more or less in produce to be sliced with Weston. Yep, did not succeed in the baby carrot test in his opinion just about like its predecessor.
Messy yet again, even in 'Fork's opinion, and he's a guy. Dumps sliced stuff pretty much like the EdgeCraft seemed to the old boy. Miss Bess opines that it's at least as trying to clean up, maybe more trying.
The back-and-forth carriage. The good: firmly attached to the appliance frame for sliding straight and true, it tips easily for cleaning underneath. The bad: feels cheap; took little effort to distort its travel enough to bump into the blade.
RECOMMENDATION
Give 'em to the enemy or get over it as 6 of one and 6.1 of the other.
EPILOGUE
This is getting serious: more's the pity - this slicer seems very well rated on Amazon. Make's 'Fork feel sorry for the rest. If this is as good as it can get, oh dear. Might as well have been made in China in 'Fork's opinion. This 'n' and the other. Both. This 'n' mebbe a skosh to the upside.
