FOUR CURSES
Slowly, the nation has recovered its poise. There is a widespread sense of unstated embarrassment that a political majority, if only for a moment, fell for the promise of an untested redeemer—a belief alien to the temperament of this so practical and sober a nation.
“The Obsolescence of Barack Obama: The magic of 2008 can't be recreated, and good riddance to it”
Fouad A. Ajami, quote excerpted from The Wall Street Journal, August 11, 2010
The redeemer thing
The Pitchfork has written about the redeemer thing assigned to BHO*, opining that BHO’s blaspheme was not of a Messiah crisis but of a God crisis. That is, BHO was not in it to save America, but to lead America omnisciently, omnipotently.
* BHO is short for Barack Hussein Obama II; the shortening may be pronounced ‘boo’ or ‘bo’ depending on which seems more respectful to you.
Lead America where? ‘Fork thinks that the destiny is Amarabia, an Islamized American version of Eurabia. ‘Fork thinks that BHO’s trek so far tracks true.
What did not occur to ‘fork until the Ajami quote was that while BHO wasn’t bent on redeeming anyone, the majority putting him in the Oval Office expected redemption one-by-one.
Well, then, redemption from what? Societal coming apart rather than coming together, disunity, themselves and their unsatisfied want of a superior power with whom to passionately relate. Ignorance - educational, informational, spiritual - tolls long and loud. Amoral and immoral meanings and purposes to life fray societal weaves and ways. See the rise of societal division, diversity, divisiveness, demonizing, disparity, denigration, disintegration and divorce from better times imagined, storied, and experienced. We live to increase. Going on takes a nation's hand in The Hand.
The curses
This is a darkling twofer in this saving gracelessly:
America drenched in ethereal hope for the better and existential change for the worse
He who lives upon hope and change will get
whomever, whatever, whenever, however, whyever.
Pitchfork
Americans done-over by their own pathology – not saved, but sacrificed (FOBHO excepted for a time).
The former is of three curses:
Professional, political elite by election and appointment, naturally corrupt, replete with crowds of newest best friends
Institutionalized, generic devaluations via unworthy credits – currency, capital, citizenship, commonwealth, conscience, consummate achievement quickly come to mind
Misplaced individual and community liberty and freedoms by educating for self-esteem, by fawning for political correctness, by misnomers the likes of diverse for divisive and community for collective, by guilt guiled, by dependence, by undue deference to incompetence and illegitimacy
The latter is of a fourth curse and is the curse upon which the other three depend:
Studied imperception of good and evil, morality, of falsity, the godless, the secular, the denial of life
Freedom falls
Less liberty,
Morals, values,
Sovereignty.
Pitchfork
These curses are evil and of evil. Nothing good can come of them.
And there’s nothing new about them . . .
You son of the Devil, full of every sort of trickery and villainy,
enemy of all that is good,
will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?
Acts of the Apostles 13:10 [Paul to Elymas the sorcerer]
For real?
Overwrought? You think?
‘Fork hears you Seneca –
Life is neither a good nor an evil: it is a field for good and evil
Lucius Annaeus Seneca (aka Seneca, Seneca the Younger)
And you William give ‘fork pause –
Hell is empty and all the devils are here.
William Shakespeare
Within sight of ‘fork’s mind’s eye, there are myriad marks, dots if you will, of evil deeds done to ‘fork’s country and countrymen in scant months of miseries, and not one can ‘fork reckon to the good. The dots pool.
Sure. Sure. Words sing siren songs of sincerity, civility, at one with everyone, benevolence near beatific; not the deeds.
Moments
These are not common moments in America’s time. Unprecedented consensus of America’s de facto bankruptcy. Unprecedented individual dependence on government for subsistence. Unprecedented legislation against the commonweal. Unprecedented executive power to confine and confiscate. Unprecedented judicial relativism and reckless rationale. Tyrants’ threats all.
Now, it’s not all on BHO. It’s only lately on BHO. BHO’s now the loco-motive in two centuries-plus of pulling along The American Way – its mainline, sidings, and branches. Still, you gotta give it up for BHO bigtime; helluva job, guy. Jobbed America fast and hard, you did – helluva a job.
Next?
The future is an opaque mirror.
Anyone who tries to look into it sees
nothing but the dim
outlines of an old and worried face.

Good is I graunt of all to hope the best,
But not to liue still dreadles of the worst.
Thomas Norton and Thomas Sackville 1565
Be of good cheer, pilgrims, if Dmitry Orlov is right, America, albeit its inhabitants are very most generally unprepared for this and worse, is at the front end of the first piece, a financial cave in, of his five-piece sequence of societal settling. That is, there’d be time to learn and live. (For Orlov, in sequence thereafter would come the subsidence of commerce, politics, society, and culture.)
If there’s a middle ground of halcyon, heroic harkening, as ‘fork figures, it’s a full glass for all on good ol’ Gustave –
I go from exasperation to
a state of [settling],
then I recover and go from prostration to Fury,
so that my average state is one of being annoyed.
Gustave Flaubert
If the seer Nostradamus saw just over our horizon, we’re toast . . .
After there is great trouble among mankind, a greater one
is prepared.
The great mover of the universe will renew
time, rain, blood, thirst, famine,
steel weapons and disease.
In the heavens, a fire seen.

America's Prayer
By Pastor Joe Wright
Source: Various
The following prayer opened the '07
session of the Kansas State Senate. Having expected the usual generalities, this
was what Joe prayed:
"Heavenly Father . . .
We come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and
guidance.
We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil -- good' but that is exactly
what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have done-in our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of
speech and expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our Forefathers and called it
enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, And know our hearts today;
Cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the
center of Your will, to open ask it in the name of Your Son, the living Savior,
Jesus Christ.
Amen!"
