Pitchfork’s survival project assumptions

  1. Attend to what’s singly most important, and get ‘er done.  What’s most important may be about immediacy of need:  the betterment of other than you or you and others; defined threat of a sort; recognizable weakness at a critical level of existence; what you’ve not ever been good at and had better turn that around.

  2. Then move on to the next most important.  You can multitask, but don’t spin and squander.

  3. No one and nothing is perfect hereabouts – that’s for later on.  Be as generally applicable and multi-purposed as you can envision, while most closely sensitive to and realistic about your own life and its lot.  Additionally, redundancy is your friend.

  4. Whereas, there’s no certainty that what’s good for the other guy’s survival and well-being is good for yours; try to reckon why the other guys’ do what they do, and make sense of it or nonsense of it in your own terms.

  5. Obsess either to outmove, outcommunicate, and outshoot or to compensate for the shortfalls.

  6. Do not foresee a moment, a battling; foresee two years and more, a warring.

  7. Know the survival stuff you’ve got - in low-light or, better, the dark – what is where, how it works, how to keep it working, how to put it back where it belongs.

  8. Figure that you've got a year, maybe two , or maybe a little more but not forever. . . and don't worry, if your world turns ugly, it won't be little cat feet quiet, slow and easy about it.
