Why blueberries (var. blue berries)? 

• The Missus likes blueberries . . . OK? . . . taste & childhood-young adult memories

• Pick-it-yourself-for-that-day’s-table fruit characteristic of blueberries throughout the local growing season

• Lots of nutrition, most notably manganese and reservatrol, plus ellagic acid (syn.: benzoaric acid; eleagic acid; elagostasine; gallogen), and Vitamins C and K

• Once started successfully, relatively hassle-free to maintain

• A vote in favor of staying put, since first (sparse) production is at 3 years old (yes, you can get 3-year old blueberry plants) and full production is not until 6 years old

• Blueberry bushes can be bought in abundance and inexpensively

• What’s not to like about blueberry jelly, blueberry jam, blueberry pie, blueberry muffins, blueberry bread, fresh blueberries and cream, on cereal, blueberry-flavored coffee cream, homemade blueberry wine, etc., etc., etc.?

• Stores well as dried blueberries, frozen blueberries, and canned blueberries
