Pitchfork’s pleased overall with this survival kitchen utensil. Hasn’t broken yet, lasted longer than any others and without wear signs, using it about 2+ times a week on average.
User Tips and Tricks
Be careful opening it to clean out. There can be a moment when the heavy, longish upper handle can fall backwards with a plate-breaking bang if you don’t either set the kitchen utensil flat and wide open at the very start of cleaning out, or keep a thumb on the ‘basket’s’ handy [sorry for the pun] overhanging lip on the closer-to-you, shorter handle side of the tool.
Survival Checklist
Five stars. Sturdy . . . Built to inherit
Five stars. Reliable . . . Every time, anytime, all mechanical
Four stars. Safe . . . Yes, mostly. See Tips and Tricks, above. Additionally, a chubby palm can get pinched hard on closing the handles . . . suggest relying more on finger strength and the heft and leverage of the garlic press itself.
Five stars. Convenient . . . fully operable with one hand; easier to clean than most; physics of leverage are assistive
Five stars. Inherent, intrinsic benefits to quality of life . . . reading petty to some, well-crushed garlic is a blessing to dining preparations in Pitchfork’s opinion, and the suddenly broken garlic crusher – fulcrum pin severs, handle breaks, sieve separates from the frame – can be majorly disruptive of kitchen work rhythm, chef’s expectations, peace and tranquility of the dining experience. At least at Pitchforks. This tool shouldn’t let anyone down, ever. Additionally, it’s well enough grippable and weighty to make a mess of that to which it’s forcibly applied in close protection.
