Introduction

A long gun accessory among survival security management tools of interest to Pitchfork is the collapsible, or adjustable, folding stock, or butt stock or butt.  Gunstock application herewith includes both rifle stock and shotgun gunstock

Gunstock motives

Pitchfork thought over the value to him of close personal security firearms inventory in several aspects, three of which put him in front of adjustable, folding gunstocks –  

• A second use to any security tool – any tool for that matter – is devoutly to be wished

• An tool somehow restricted in use by others is not devoutly to be wished

• Synthetic gun furniture – synthetic gunstock and forend – are intended overall for durability – and most-all the adjustable gunstocks, or collapsible gunstocks, and folding gunstocks are in synthetics

Pack rifles

Once upon a time not long gone, Pitchfork considered three rifles of general interest for pack rifles -

Whilst more fit than most for extreme survival conditions, warring on American turf in virtually furshur stay-put, stick-around circumstances seemed to Pitchfork to develop a need for sturdier material. 

Smaller 'footprints' for survival arms

Still, the point’s made clearly – in survival firearms, smaller ‘footprints’ benefit survival stashing and survival dashing.  As pack rifles go (not to the exclusion of pack shotguns), the essence is fitting it in the pack, not seeing it sticking out and also being useful for gaining sustenance and security.  Hence, the notion of a folding gunstock was born to Pitchfork’s way of survival thinking.  Essentially, a second-use accessory – use it to shoot, use it to tuck away in plain sight.

Folding and collapsible, or adjustable, gun stocks for shotguns and rifles can be, depending on the arms maker, a walk in the park or an uphill struggle.  Modify the stock of a Ruger 10/22 - no problem.  Modify, say, the stock of a Saiga - big problem, as the darker side of nepotism at the only well-stocked outlet, in 'Fork's opinion, sinks to the occasion.
 

Universal utility for survival arms

So whassup with the collapsible rifle or shotgun gunstock, or adjustable stock?  Some long guns’ butt stocks felt too long, awkward, uncomfortable, tiring in time.  Cutting ‘em down to Pitchfork’s size could have worked OK, he thought.  But what about cutting ‘em down to The Missus’ size, too?  And where is it writ that she won’t need a long gun for the sake of her own security, and the nearest is Pitchfork’s.  That’s where a collapsible or adjustable rifle or shotgun gunstock came from for the old guy.  One click and Pitchfork’s is The Missus’ and vice versa.

Ruger 10/22 gunstock

Pitchfork reckons you could get lucky looking for an adjustable, folding rifle stock for the Ruger 10/22, i.e. ATI Ruger 10/22 Six Position Side Folding Stock.

Overall length of arm:

Adjusted to full extent ≈ 38 1/2”

Adjusted to least extent ≈ 34 5/8”

Folded ≈ 26 1/4”

Saiga rifle gunstock and shotgun gunstock

Beware:  There are several Saiga-compatible aftermarket rifle and shotgun gunstocks that either fold, or adjust, or they fold; however, aside from the referenced Command Arms, none does both adjust and fold far as Pitchfork been looking.

Mossberg shotgun gunstock

The Mossberg Persuader was another matter.  Among Mossberg Persuader accessories, Pitchfork cannot yet find an adjustable, or collapsible, folder shotgun gunstock for the Mossberg.  But he did find a doozy in Knoxx Blackhawk Special Ops Adjustable Shotgun Stock for Mossberg 12Ga, e.g., at http://www.amazon.com/Blackhawk-Special-Adjustable-Shotgun-MOSSBERG/dp/B001WA6A8S/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1.  It does not fold.  It does adjust, or fold.  Overall length is not pack-friendly at about 38 1/2” – 41 3/8”.  But, this Knoxx has a recoil absorbing mechanism with a generally strong reputation.

Pitchfork has not yet looked into adjustable/folding stocks for the bolt guns suggested hereunder.
